A Wrexham-based brewery, is toasting its success in world’s largest, longest standing and most respected food accreditation scheme for artisan and speciality food producers.

Eyton Gold, Green One IPA and Obsidian stout bottled beers from Magic Dragon Brewing, have each been awarded one star by Great Taste.

Out of 5,383 products worldwide to receive a Great Taste one, two or three-star accolade at the event on September 21, Eyton Gold, Green One IPA and Obsidian Welsh Stout will now be able to display the unmistakable black and gold logo, a stamp of excellence that is recognised by retailers and consumers alike.

The judges described Obsidian stout has having "a very attractive aroma of chocolate and coffee. The palate was lovely and clean with a nice dark, smoky finish. The acidity is very refreshing and carries all of the flavours".

Green One IPA was "really well balanced; the light, floral notes were very attractive", and Eyton Gold attracted great comments as well,"Enticing, light honey aromas".

Richard Lever, head brewer, has been brewing ale since he, and his wife, brought the brewery in 2017. They traditionally brew beers at The Plassey Leisure Park and supply local pubs with cask ale.

Founder Liz Lever said: "We decided to enter the awards this year to get feedback from professionals on our bottled beers as a lot of other beer competitions had been cancelled."

The Great Taste one-star award-winning Eyton Gold, Green One IPA and Obsidian Welsh Stout are available from Bellis Farm Shop in Holt, Bodnant Welsh Food Farm Shop, Alderford Lake Farm shop just outside Whitchurch, Plassey Stores at Plassey Leisure Park and their own website, www.magicdragonbrewing.co.uk. However, they are looking for more shops to stock of their award-winning ales.
