A MAN found in Chester with a hand-made cosh consisting of a sock filled with pool balls has been sentenced.
Tomasz Zajaczkowski, 38, of Dee Road, Connah's Quay, was due to face trial at Chester Magistrates Court on Thursday, September 9 on the sole charge of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
However, having previously denied the offence, he changed his plea to guilty on the day of his trial.
Prosecuting, Jonathan Wilkinson said the offence dated from March 12, 2021, when Zajaczkowski was seen in Brook Street, Chester with the hand-made cosh.
Magistrates fined the defendant £620 and ordered him to pay £500 costs and a £62 victim surcharge. His guilty plea was taken into account when passing sentence.
The hand-made cosh, consisting of the sock and the pool balls, was to be forfeited and destroyed.
