FIVE people have been detained after armed police were seen in Penycae on Wednesday morning.

North Wales Police confirmed they were dealing with an ongoing incident on Delfryn.

A spokesman said there was 'no cause for public concern', but members of the public were urged to avoid the area whilst officers dealt with the incident 'safely'.

A spokesman since confirmed the reason why officers were there.

They added: "Armed officers attending a property in Delfryn, Penycae have recovered two firearms. Three men and two women have been detained for offences associated with the incident.

"Thanks to the local community for your information and assistance.

"Local officers will remain in the area as the property continues to be searched, however there are no ongoing concerns for public safety.

Following the incident involving armed officers attending a property in Delfryn, Penycae, District Inspector Gavin Gilmore has thanked the local community for their assistance.
