A POPULAR band has been able to find a new venue for their sell-out North Wales gig.

Manchester-based band The Charlatans were due to perform at the William Aston Hall in Wrexham in November this year – but all their plans were thrown up in the air after the venue’s events operator VMS Live went into liquidation.

A spokesman for Wrexham Glyndwr University, where the venue is based, told the Leader about the news earlier this month that saw dozens of performances cancelled last minute.

It was recently announced that those ticket holders due to see the rock band would not be left disappointed after a new venue came forward for the same day originally.

A spokesman for the Buckley Tivoli said: “Due to Wrexham William Aston Hall being unable to open for the foreseeable future, The Charlatans show on Nov 25th has been moved to The Tivoli Buckley on the same night.

“All tickets are valid for the new venue. Apologies for any inconvenience caused but we look forward to a great show!"

The team did state that a handful of tickets would become available to purchase – and went on sale on Monday evening after 9.40pm.

They quickly sold out, with a social media post going up on their page after 10.15pm the same night announcing the final space had been sold.

The Leader has previously reported how comedian Jason Manford had his tour stop in the town cancelled at short notice – with the liquidation officially announced on September 1 and the comic due to arrive on September 5 for his gig.

He has since issued a statement on social media with dates lined up next year for new performances in Wrexham.
