THE cast of Wrexham AFC co-owners record-breaking comedy series sent a special video message ahead of the Reds' season opener today.

Rob McElhenney, in partnership with Deadpool and Free Guy star Ryan Reynolds, completed the takeover of football's third oldest club in February this year.

After a summer of anticipation, the Reds have just kicked off their season against Solihull Moors today.

Just before the game started, Rob shared a video from the set of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The video starts with Danny DeVito, who plays Frank Reynolds in the show, saying "Come on Wrexham!"

The camera then pans along the bar of Paddy's Pub as the It's Always Sunny theme plays.

Co-star Glenn Howerton, who plays Dennis Reynolds, then asks Rob: "Why are you making me do this?"

Rob's wife Kaitlin Olson, who plays Sweet Dee in the series, seems to say "Let's go, Wrexham!" but her voice is overdubbed with bird noise.

In a callback to a previous TikTok wearing Wrexham's new It's Always Sunny inspired green away kit, Charlie Day asks how much he's being paid.

The footage ends with Rob turning the camera on himself to say: "Up the town, let's go, Wrexham!"

Rob and Kaitlin met on the set of record-breaking comedy series It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - the forthcoming 15th series will seal its place as the longest running live-action sitcom in American TV history.

After the video was shared on social media, Ryan Reynolds tweeted: "This is abusive."
