INFORMATION about upcoming road closures and projects have been put out by Welsh Government.

Below are some of the upcoming works you’ll need to be aware of – and when they’ll be happening.

A483 TRUNK ROAD (NEWBRIDGE BYPASS, WREXHAM COUNTY BOROUGH):

The Welsh Ministers propose to make an Order under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which is necessary to undertake works on or near the A483 trunk road at Newbridge Bypass, Wrexham County Borough.

The effect of the proposed Order will be to temporarily prohibit all vehicles (other than those being used by the emergency services or for the works), cyclists and pedestrians from proceeding along the length of the A483 trunk road between Junction 1 (Ruabon Interchange) and the northern side of Halton Roundabout.

The alternative route for northbound traffic from Halton Roundabout will be via the westbound A5 to Llangollen and eastbound A539 to Ruabon: vice versa for southbound traffic from Junction 1.

This diversion may change during the lifetime of the Order but all diversion routes will be signed accordingly.

They will also impose a 50 mph, 40 mph, 30 mph or 10 mph speed limit on the length of the A483 described above.

The 10mph speed limit will only apply during convoy working and no overtaking will be permitted at such times.

The Order will come into force at 6am on 1 September 2021 and the temporary prohibitions and restrictions are expected to operate on an intermittent basis from 1 September 2021 for a maximum duration of 18 months.

Notice of all works being undertaken during this period will be displayed prior to their commencement.

A5 TRUNK ROAD (CHIRK BYPASS, WREXHAM COUNTY BOROUGH):

The Welsh Ministers propose to make an Order under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which is necessary to undertake works on or near the A5 trunk road at Chirk Bypass, Wrexham.

The effect of the proposed Order will be to temporarily prohibit all vehicles (other than those being used by the emergency services or for the works), cyclists and pedestrians from proceeding along the length of the Chirk Bypass between the Wales/England border and Halton Roundabout.

The alternative route for northbound traffic from Gledrid Roundabout will be via the northbound B5070 Chirk Road and eastbound A5 to re-join the trunk road at Halton Roundabout: vice versa for southbound traffic from Halton Roundabout.

The weight restriction on the B5070 bridge at Chirk will be suspended whilst works are undertaken.

They will impose a 50mph, 40mph, 30mph or 10mph speed limit on the length of the A5 described above.

The 10mph speed limit will only apply during convoy working and no overtaking will be permitted at such times.

The Order will come into force on 1 September 2021. The temporary prohibitions and restrictions are expected to operate overnight (7pm – 6am) on an intermittent basis from 1 September 2021 for a maximum duration of 18 months.

Notice of all works being undertaken during this period will be displayed prior to their commencement.

A5 TRUNK ROAD (HALTON ROUNDABOUT TO WHITEHURST ROUNDABOUT, CHIRK, WREXHAM COUNTY BOROUGH):

The Welsh Ministers propose to make an Order under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 which is necessary to undertake works on or near the A5 trunk road between Halton Roundabout and Whitehurst Roundabout, north of Chirk, Wrexham County Borough.

The effect of the proposed Order will be to temporarily prohibit all vehicles (other than those being used by the emergency services or for the works), cyclists and pedestrians from travelling between Halton Roundabout and Whitehurst Roundabout.

The alternative route for westbound traffic from Halton Roundabout will be via the southbound A5 to Gledrid Roundabout and northbound B5070 to re-join the trunk road at Whitehurst Roundabout: vice versa for eastbound traffic from Whitehurst Roundabout.

They will also impose a temporary 50mph, 40mph, 30mph or 10mph speed limit on the length of the A5 described above.

The 10mph speed limit will only apply during convoy working and no overtaking will be permitted at such times. The Order will come into force on 1 September 2021.

The temporary prohibitions and restrictions are expected to operate overnight (7pm to 6am) on an intermittent basis from 1 September 2021 for a maximum duration of 18 months. Notice of all works being undertaken during this period will be displayed prior to their commencement.

A Welsh Government spokesman said: "The TTRO (Temporary Traffic Regulation Order) is for 18 months duration to allow work activities to proceed during that period. This provides NMWTRA (North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agent) with the flexibility to implement the work that needs to be undertaken on the routes with the temporary speed limits etc being put in place, only when needed, and most often overnight.

"This does not mean the road will be closed for 18 months.

"This is a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order which is required to undertake the planned routine cyclic maintenance programme on the A483 but can also be used reactively in the event of an incident e.g. following safety barrier collision or potholes, to allow a repair.

"TTROs are issued as part of a statutory process that the Welsh Government follow as a Highway Authority  to implement temporary changes to speed limits etc. for driver and workforce safety reasons."
