A TOWN continues to thrive as dozens of new businesses are opening or expanding as the area goes from strength to strength.

Despite the unprecedented challenges and hardships facing businesses during the Covid-19 pandemic, Mold continues to buck the trend the of failing high streets.

Since January 2020, over 40 businesses have opened their doors in Mold, but that is not the end as the town is set to see more.

Opening in the near future will be:

• The Sushi Bar (exact name to be confirmed) are planning to open sometime this month and will be in the Daniel Owen Precinct (next to Cravin)

• Gray’s Kiosk – the kiosk will be opening opposite the HSBC, with new brand new ownership

• Mold Kitchen Studio - due to open in the Daniel Owen Precinct

• Latte Lottie – a new café run by a local family serving home cooked food, due to open in the Daniel Owen Precinct

• The Thai Kitchen - is moving into a premise in Mold as well

Jane Evans Events & Community Engagement Officer, Mold Town Council said: “For Mold to come out of a pandemic having 41 businesses either open or expand is amazing, I am so proud of our town and our community who have supported our businesses throughout.

“All the businesses and traders in the town have worked incredibly hard to ensure everyone’s safety during the last 18 months.

“Mold really is a thriving town, a great place to live, work and visit; we have great variety of independent and national businesses, twice weekly street market, monthly artisan market and a twice monthly farmers market.

“With so much in the town, it really does help attract even more new businesses to the town, as we are seeing with a further five businesses being announced to open shortly.

“The Totally Mold vouchers have also been a great success with people purchasing either for themselves (to take advantage of the special voucher offers some businesses are putting on) or as gifts for Christmas, birthdays and other occasions.

“The voucher scheme helps keep money in the town and we have such a great variety of where they can be spent with currently 84 Mold businesses signed up to accept and further businesses coming on board when we relaunch the vouchers mid-October, just in time for Christmas shopping to start, visit www.totallymoldvouchers.org.uk.”

The Leader previously reported that as well as over 40 new businesses opening, 10 have expanded their premises since January 2020.

Mayor of Mold, Councillor Sarah Taylor, said: "Here in Mold, we have an extremely high occupancy level at just over 94 per cent - which is incredible and it is as a result of all the new and expanded shops and services that have located in Mold.

"Our vacancy rate is just less than 6 per cent which is significantly lower than the average of the country and we are working hard to reduce this further.

"Mold is a fantastic town, to live, work, or visit, and I am incredibly proud to be the mayor for this year.

"It's a privilege to see the magic returning to our town after a difficult 15 months, and with the support of our traders, businesses, our partners with whom we work, the visitors to the town, and most importantly the local community, I hope that we will continue to go from strength to strength.”

Cravin at the Daniel Owen Precinct opened on July 10, 2021.

Luke and Jamie-Lee Anderson Owners and bakers of Cravin who started their market stall just before lockdown in 2020 have now opened up their own shop in the Daniel Owen Precinct.

Jamie-Lee said: “We are parents to boy/girl twins and lovers of all things cake! We offer our services for all of your cakey needs! Cravin' began in a small way, baking for friends and family but what started as a love affair with baking, Cravin' was nurtured into a business in 2019. As demand increased, they branched out with online sales in 2020 just before the pandemic hit.”
