MORE than 80 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Flintshire and Wrexham.

Public Health Wales figures released on Sunday (August 1) show that of the 83 new cases in the two counties, 41 were in Flintshire and 42 in Wrexham.

Wrexham and Flintshire's seven-day infection rates both remain some of the highest in Wales (234.6 and 226.1 respectively) but are falling.

Across the North Wales region as a whole, 220 new cases of the virus have been confirmed.

Sadly, a further five people who had tested positive for coronaviru in the last 28 days have died in the latest 24-hour period.

Over two million people in Wales have now had both doses of the coronavirus vaccine.

Hospital admission and inpatient rates in North Wales have crept up in recent weeks, but remain very low in comparison to the first and second waves of the virus.

In North Wales, two per cent (56) of its hospitals' inpatients are coronavirus patients.
