The summer holidays are the perfect time to embrace the great outdoors.

If you're looking to entertain the children with some nature-based fun activities, then Groundwork North Wales and their partner organisation Wild Ground, have planned free fun family activities this July and August to keep everyone entertained.

They have exciting Bio Blitz sessions, pond dipping and treasure hunts to keep boredom at bay. Also on offer are bat walks, nature trails and history walks to discover.

Groundwork North Wales, the community charity based near Wrexham, have events at three sites, the Plas Power Nature Reserve where the charity is based, Minera lead mines and nature reserves in the Connah's Quay area.

The fun starts on July 23 with 2 Bio Blitz events exploring local nature. One in Connah's Quay and the other at Plas Power.

Other exciting events are a guided nature walk around two nature reserves in Connah's Quay and an evening Bat Walk at Broad Oak Nature Reserve.
