Summer Reading Challenge 2021

Aura Libraries are delighted to be taking part in this year’s Summer Reading Challenge, organised by The Reading Agency. The Summer Reading Challenge encourages children aged four to 11 to enjoy the benefits of reading for pleasure over the summer holidays. This year’s theme is Wild World Heroes: pack your bags, we’re headed for Wilderville! It’s a pretty cool place, but there are lots of things that the Wild World Heroes can do to make their town even better for the people and animals that live there.

Join the Wild World Heroes for the Summer Reading Challenge and discover how you can make a difference to the environment too! We’re teaming up with WWF for a very special nature-themed challenge that will inspire you to stand up for the planet! Wild World Heroes will feature amazing books, awesome rewards, and plenty of ideas for taking care of our environment.

Pop in to your nearest library to grab your Wild World Heroes bag. There’ll be lots of free fun activities to join in with at your local Aura library, or why not get out and about with us in the wilds of your local area. Follow a Story Trail or solve the treasure hunts or join us for ‘Fit Fed and Read’! For more information contact your local library or find us on social media: @LlyfrgelloeddAuraLibraries (Facebook), @LibFlintshire (Twitter) and @llyfrgelloeddauralibraries (Instagram).

Babies and Books at Mold Library

For the past few months, we have been sharing video sessions every Friday morning on our Facebook and YouTube pages called Babies and Books. These sessions have been all about lap time bonding with your baby and sharing books and rhymes, aimed at babies aged 0-18 months. In recent weeks, we have been delighted to host Babies and Books sessions in person at Mold Library, and will be continuing these sessions every Friday at 10am and 11am. The sessions will include extra special Bookstart resources which you will be able to order through our Select & Collect Service.

We also have the Bookstart packs available from Book Trust Cymru for you to order. These are specially created book bags for you to keep and treasure and share with your child. Baby packs are for babies aged 0-12 months and Early Years packs for children aged 18-36 months are available to order and collect from your local Aura library as part of a Select and Collect order. If you would like to order a pack, we will just need to know your name, which pack you would like to order and your preferred collection point.

If you would like more information, or would like to book a place at one of our Babies and Books sessions, please contact the library on 01352 703780.
