Healthy mind, healthy body

Aura Libraries recently took part in some sessions entitled Fit, Fed and Read, in partnership with Aura's Sports Development team, who strive to encourage children to enjoy and engage in physical activity. We were delighted to take part, any excuse to share some crafts, books and a love of reading.

After seeing our colleagues in Aura's Sports Development inspire so many children to keep healthy, we also felt inspired to encourage and promote our local community to discover more about the physical and mental benefits of exercise and physical activity.

With this in mind, we have put together a list of both non-fiction and fiction reading recommendations which centre upon either wellbeing, sport, and/or fitness.

All of the following titles are available to borrow from your local Aura library; many of which are available in e-book or audiobook format, available to access via Borrowbox. Pop into your local library or phone us for a chat if you would like more information about our online library catalogue, or e-books and audiobooks.

• One-Minute Mindfulness by Simon Parke

• You Are A Champion by Marcus Rashford

• Reasons to Stay Alive by Matt Haig

• This Too Shall Pass by Julia Samuel

• Fever Pitch by Nick Hornby

• The Motion of the Body Through Space by Lionel Shriver

The Leader: Piranesi by Susanna ClarkePiranesi by Susanna Clarke

This week's book recommendation comes from Francesca, Aura's public relations officer.

She said: "I would absolutely recommend Piranesi by Susanna Clarke. It is one of those books that is so difficult to describe without spoiling it for other readers!

"It is a dream-like fantasy tale with a narrative voice that you can't help but fall in love with and root for. The writing style is captivating from the very first paragraph: I would definitely give this title an Aura Book Score of 5/5."

Piranesi, along with other titles by Susanna Clarke - such as her first novel, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell - is available to borrow from your local Aura library. If this book sounds right up your street, why not add it to your next Select and Collect order?
