OVER 30 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Flintshire and Wrexham.

Public Health Wales figures released on Thursday (June 17) show that 21 new cases have been confirmed in Flintshire, and 11 in Wrexham in the latest 24-hour period.

Flintshire recorded the highest number of daily cases in Wales, with four of the five areas with the most new cases in Wales being in the north.

Flintshire's current seven-day infection rate is at 37.2 - but that data is only up to June 12, meaning its infection rate is likely going to grow significantly by next week.

Wrexham's infection rate is now at 30.9 having been down in single figures in recent weeks.

The rise in infection rates comes amid a cluster of cases of the highly infectious Delta variant in North Wales.

A full breakdown of new North Wales cases is as follows:

Anglesey - 3

Conwy - 14

Denbighshire - 15

Flintshire - 21

Gwynedd - 5

Wrexham - 11

Over 1.4 million people in Wales have had both doses of the vaccine, with over 2.2 million people having received at least one dose.

No new suspected coronavirus-related deaths have been confirmed in Wales in the latest 24-hour period.
