IT may not exactly be roast weather - but there are few things that unite us more than this traditional meal shared with friends and family.

With meat cooked to perfection, crispy roast potatoes, fluffy Yorkshire puddings, and lashings of gravy, many of us count the British Sunday roast among our favourite meals.

Maybe it brings back memories of family meals cooked by mum or nan - or maybe it was the first meal you had with friends as lockdown measures were eased.

Now, staff at one Wrexham restaurant boast they are serving up the best roast in town.

With all premium meat used for roasting sourced from Stanley Jones, a third generation farmer and butcher from Rhosllanerchrugog mountain, the Frisky Pudding think their roasts are a cut above.

Served with a giant Yorkshire pudding, roast and mash potatoes, root vegetables, red cabbage, greens, and real pan jus, it certainly looks the part.

There is even a vegetarian version and an optional side of cauliflower cheese.

Annie Holloway, front of house manager at the Frisky Pudding, said: "It is all down to our chef's expertise really. We are all locally sourced from Stanley Jones, and we pride ourselves on using that local produce. It ties in with our brand - we try and be the best at everything in Wrexham. We want to be the best at the best price.

"It's not just the roast, you will experience the best hands on service. It's the little things that count.

"Everything you see on that plate will be made here. Except for growing it ourselves, it is all done here in house. We pride ourselves on that good touch, from how our food is made to how it is presented.

"All the feedback we get is that it tastes genuine. You can't beat your mum or your nan's can you, but we come pretty close."

Have you tried the roast at the Frisky Pudding? Or do you have a favourite pub or restaurant where the roasts can't be beat? Or can no roast compare to the ones mum or nan used to make?
