NEARLY 20 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Flintshire and Wrexham.

Public Health Wales figures released on Sunday show that 18 new cases of the virus were confirmed in the two counties between Friday and Sunday at 9am; with nine each in Flintshire and Wrexham.

Flintshire's infection rate currently stands at 14.1 per week, while Wrexham's is at 11.0.

Conwy, where a cluster of the Delta [Indian] variant have been confirmed, currently has the highest seven-day infection rate in Wales (42.7).

Over 2.2 million people in Wales have now had at least one dose of the vaccine, with 1.3 million having received both doses.

Only one new suspected coronavirus-related death was confirmed in Wales over the weekend.
