SIMON Baynes MP visited Magic Dragon Brewing at The Plassey near Eyton to meet the brewery team that has continued production throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

Magic Dragon Brewing, which was founded in 1985, is a family-run, award-winning brewery which produces cask, keg, and bottled real ale and lager. They are also the oldest micro-brewery in Wales and have a distinct identity amongst a crowded market.

During the visit, the Clwyd South MP met the owners, Richard and Liz Lever, as well as the Brewery Assistant, Nick Bradshaw, and Online Business Operations Manager, Nick Holland, who spoke to him about the history of the business and the effect of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic on sales.

Richard said: "It was great to speak to Simon about the challenges our brewery and breweries in general have had over the last 12 months and to show him round."

After the visit, Mr Baynes MP said: “I was really pleased to visit the team at Magic Dragon Brewing, and to have the opportunity to see their shop and superb operation at The Plassey near Eyton. I was particularly impressed to hear about their success in expanding their business online via Amazon and their own online operations. This has enabled them to weather the pandemic in a much stronger condition than many of their competitors. I wish them every success with the reopening of their pub in Wrexham – The Magic Dragon Brewery Tap.

“They’re a truly standout company in Clwyd South and I know they will continue to go from strength to strength and benefit the local economy. I hope that plenty of Clwyd South residents raise a glass to their success and perhaps order a pint next time they visit their local pub.”
