A VANDAL has smashed the office windows of Wrexham’s MP in the early hours of Saturday morning.

North Wales Police have been given CCTV footage by the MP’s office that shows the vandal in action on Saturday morning at around 1.50am.

The man was filmed throwing rock at one of the front windows of the office, on Regent Street, then walking away

He returned a few seconds later to do the same to an adjacent window.

The town’s Conservative MP Sarah Atherton said she was furious about the incident, but it made her all the more determined to crack down on crime in the town centre.

Ms Atherton said: “This is a disgraceful act and an assault on our democracy. Regardless of your politics, I am Wrexham’s representative in Westminster and I am here for everyone.

“When people disagree politically, we are supposed to persuade through discussion. When people resort to these tactics, not only have they lost the argument but they have lost all credibility.”

Ms Atherton has made Tackling Crime and Making Wrexham Safer one of her six points to tackle during her time in office.

She has been on patrol with North Wales Police and has worked closely with local bobbies to drive down antisocial behaviour in the town.

She added: “This only makes me more determined to get a grip on crime. Wrexham is a wonderful town which tens of thousands of us are proud to call home.

“Yet a tiny minority see fit to behave like yobs and try to spoil the greatest town in North Wales. It is not acceptable and the majority of us will not stand for it.”

Police are appealing for anyone in the area at the time of the incident to report anything suspicious by calling 101 and using the reference code Z071650.
