A MURDER investigation has been launched following the death of a Connah’s Quay man.

North Wales Police confirmed the tragic incident unfolded on Saturday afternoon, May 22, and resulted in the death of local 31-year-old Dean Michael Bennett.

Officers were called to the Dock Road area shortly after 5pm this weekend by the Welsh Ambulance Service to a report that a man had been stabbed on Dock Road.

Police confirm he was airlifted to Aintree Hospital in Liverpool but sadly he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

Three arrests on suspicion of murder were made in total.

Shortly after 8.30pm, North Wales Police confirmed that a 46-year-old woman and 35-year-old man remain in police custody.

A 16-year-old girl was released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Sion Williams said: “Our heartfelt sympathies go out to Dean’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.

“We understand that a serious incident like this has caused a lot of concern in the local community and we’d like to reassure residents that we are doing all we can to establish what has happened.

"Officers are patrolling the area and a cordon remains in place."

“To assist with the investigation, I would encourage anyone who has any information, or anyone who may have been in the vicinity of Dock Road, to come forward.”

Police gave praise to the Welsh Ambulance Service for their 'prompt response' following the stabbing - but despite best efforts Mr Bennett did not survive.
