A MAN found in dead in the living room of his sheltered accommodation home had drunk a significant amount of alcohol.

Edward Haydn Roberts, 61, was found on the sofa at Parkside, Overton, on the morning on October 13, 2020, by warden Clive Pearce.

Mr Pearce said Mr Roberts, who was born in Bala, had lived in the bungalow for about 18 months and that he was visited by himself or another member of the team daily.

The inquest at County Hall in Ruthin heard that Mr Roberts was being treated for a number of mental and physical health issues, including heart disease, diabetes and epilepsy. He had suffered a stroke earlier in the year.

Emergency services were called and police officers attending noted that two whisky bottles were in the room.

A post-mortem examination found alcohol in Mr Roberts’ system at a level of 578mg per 100ml of blood.

Medication was found at therapeutic levels.

The examination also found evidence of chronic heart disease.

The cause of death was heart failure with alcohol toxicity as a contributing factor.

Coroner for North Wales (East and Central) John Gittins recorded a conclusion of an alcohol-related death.
