A NEW scheme to double your shopping money has been launched in Holywell to support small businesses.

Launching after the Bank Holiday on Tuesday, May 4, Holywell Town Council are offering up ‘Shop Local’ vouchers to be used with a growing list of independent Holywell businesses participating.

The idea behind the scheme is to encourage the community to support the small businesses that have been closed for much of 2021.

These tokens will double the money you can spend in selected retailers – for example, a £5 voucher would allow you cover a £10 bill in participating retailers.

In recent weeks, Welsh Government gave non-essential shops and close contact services the green light to welcome back customers since the last national lockdown.

Many adapted to serve their customers online and through click-and-collect systems – but for some that was not possible so are in need of customer’s support now more than ever.

Here is a current list of participating businesses:

• Beauty by Beth

• Jardiniere

• Affordables

• Dannys Butchers

• Pedrinis Antiques & Collectables

• Rosie’z Café

• Paint Me Pretty

• Holywell Area Museum

• Scotts Jewellers

• Fountain of Beauty

• The Coffee Bean

• G Styles

• Pets Pantry

• Cresta Stores

• Chaos Ink

• The Music Cave

• Waterhouse Flowers

• The New Saleroom

• F.R. Kennedy & Son

• Fountain of Beauty

• Pen y Maes Stores

• The Flower Bowl

• Tower Crafts

• Holywell Travel

• Haircare

• Kassidys Tea Rooms

People can collect vouchers from the Town Council offices, on Bank Place near Tesco, from Tuesday to Thursday between 10am and 12pm.

The vouchers will be set in denominations of £5 with a maximum allowance of £20 per person.

This scheme is only open to residents of Holywell and Greenfield.

They must be aged 18 and over to purchase a voucher and they cannot be used to buy alcohol or tobacco products.
