A MAN has been slapped with a community order after being caught drunk behind the wheel.
Timothy Rooney, of Kempton Way in Wrexham, was brought before North East Wales Magistrates Court where he admitted to the offence.
The 46-year-old was caught driving along in his Toyota Yaris on Powell Road, in Wrexham, on March 6 of this year.
The court was told how he gave a reading of 124 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath when checked.
The current legal limit in Wales is 35mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, meaning Rooney was more than triple the legal limit.
As a result, he was handed a £480 fine and was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 30 months.
Rooney was told that his disqualification could be reduced by 30 weeks if he completed a course by December 27, 2022.
He must also complete a rehabilitation activity requirement that was outlined by the court.
