HOW are things looking in Wrexham and Flintshire after the latest coronavirus rules relaxed?

From today, Saturday, the stay local rule has been replaced with an interim all-Wales travel guide along with the phased reopening of the tourism industry, historic sites and local libraries.

Public Health Wales have shown exactly how our different communities compare with their mapping feature which was first added to the daily update provided by health officials in response to monitoring COVID-19 in October 2020.

It presents data broken down beyond the standard local authority areas that people could previously access and now shows how individual communities compare.

Below, we took a snapshot look of the latest available seven-day period from March 15 to 21.

Here’s what we found in Flintshire:

The latest data shows a varied picture – with some areas showing increases, decreases and maintained efforts.

Levels fluctuate between the different communities with some showing increases and some showing decreases.

Figures reveal that, during the latest seven-day period, the Broughton and Saltney area has reported the most coronavirus reports with 14 cases at a rate of 116.6 cases per 100,000 people.

• Connah’s Quay North – 0-2 cases and rate of less than 33 cases per 100,000 people; -2 from last week

• Connah’s Quay South and Northop Hall – 10 cases and rate of 150.5 cases per 100,000 people; +1 from last week

• Connah’s Quay Wepre - 0-2 cases and rate of less than 28 cases per 100,000 people; -4 from last week

Here’s what we found in Wrexham:

At one time, Wrexham was known to be one of the worst hit areas when it came to coronavirus cass.

Since then, with weeks of following the rules, the situation continues to remain positive for the county with very low levels locally.

The latest data shows most communities have been able to drive down their figures right the way down in the last seven days - with the vast majority now reporting the lowest amount (0-2).

Some reported a small jump in cases but numbers largely remain low.

The map does reports that current figures place the Hermitage and Whitegate area as having the highest number of cases - recording a total of 10 with a rate of 114.2 at present.
