JUST over a dozen new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Flintshire and Wrexham, the latest data shows.

Public Health Wales figures released on Wednesday (March 24) show that between March 22 and March 23, 14 new cases of the virus were confirmed in the two counties.

Of these, 10 were in Flintshire and four in Wrexham - taking their respective totals since the start of the pandemic to 9,478 and 11,337.

Flintshire's seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population now stands at 71.7 and remains one of the higher rates in Wales.

Wrexham's infection rate is now down at 33.8, one of the lowest in the country.

Sadly, a further three people who had tested positive for coronavirus in the last 28 days died in Wales between March 22 and March 23.

This takes Wales' total number of suspected coronavirus-related deaths to 5,491.

Roughly 10 per cent of Wales' population have now received both doses of the coronavirus vaccine, with over 1.3 million people having had at least one dose.
