A WANTED man found hiding in a cupboard by police has been jailed.

Police confirmed Scott Langford, aged 31 and of Min Afon in Wrexham, was apprehended yesterday.

His arrest followed an appeal by the Wrexham Town Policing team on Sunday after he failed to attend court.

Langford had previously admitted that on May 26 last year in Wrexham, he drove a Honda Civic while disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence and without relevant insurance, as well as failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis without reasonable excuse.

Appearing at Mold Magistrates Court yesterday, he admitted that on May 26 last year in Walnut Street, Wrexham, he had a kitchen knife.

He was committed to prison for 26 weeks for the knife offence and received concurrent sentences of 18 weeks each for failing to provide a specimen and driving while disqualified.

No separate penalty was imposed in respect of the insurance offence.

The court disqualified him from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 51 months.

Langford was located hiding in a cupboard when police searched a property in Gwersyllt following a tip off from the community.

Wrexham Town Inspector Luke Hughes told the Leader how he was thankful to members of the public for providing the details to police, adding how vital this information can be to help track criminals.
