THE parents of a brave girl whose battle with terminal illness touched the hearts of thousands are inviting people to hep give her the celebratory send off she deserves.

10-year-old Eva Grace Williams, of Marford, Wrexham, passed away on January 8 just over a year after she was diagnosed with intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG).

In normal times, Eva's funeral on Wednesday, February 24, would have been a huge event celebrating Eva's life and bravery.

Although the coronavirus pandemic means things will be done differently, Eva's parents Paul Slapa and Carran Williams are inviting people to join in giving her a send off as a carriage drawn by unicorns leaves their Marford home.

Paul and Carran said: "In “normal” times we would be asking for as many people as possible to join us to celebrate Eva’s life, but due to the restrictions relating to Covid, we are only able to have a small ceremony.

"The funeral itself will take place on 24th February, with the ceremony starting at 1.30pm.

"We will be leaving our house in Marford at 12.30pm, with Eva’s coffin carried along in a carriage by unicorns. We will head up to Eva’s school – the Rofft School – before travelling through the villages, into town, and then finish up at Pentrebychan Crematorium.

"For those who are able, we are asking for you to stand outside and see Eva off, giving her the send off she deserves. If you have your Unbeatable Eva clothing, or if you have anything purple, please do wear this too. The day is going to be the hardest we will ever experience and so we are determined to make it as much of a celebration for Eva as possible. She would have loved it to get everyone together.

"Thank you to all of you who have supported us this past 12 months – we are asking one more time for you to support us by making this day as celebratory as it can be, in such a heartbreaking time."

Earlier this month, Paul and Carran announced that they have been approved to convert the fundraising campaign to support Eva's treatment into a charitable donation.

They will be announcing more information to the thousands of people who supported the brave ten-year-old soon and have changed the name of the Facebook group to The Unbeatable Eva Foundation.
