SNOW and ice have wreaked havoc across North Wales as heavy downfall caused poor driving conditions and disruption.

A yellow weather warning was placed for snow and ice from Thursday evening to Friday evening across North Wales with temperatures set to plummet.

Whilst a blanket of snow had many homes keen to build a snowman in their gardens, it caused treacherous driving conditions on roads across the country.

Traffic Wales confirmed there had been a crash affecting two lanes on the A55 Eastbound at J32 Holywell - J33 Flint/Mold.

Traffic reports also showed that traffic was building on roads across Wrexham, Flintshire and Denbighshire.

Train and bus services also came to a halt with services between Ruthin and Wrexham being terminated and passengers urged to 'plan for disruption'.

The X51 service between Denbigh and Wrexham was halted and all services between Ruthin and Mold were using the A494 main road and not diverting via villages.

Gritters were kept busy patrolling all routes but some difficulties were experienced and many roads had to be closed including the Horseshoe Pass in Llangollen and all routes to Moel Famau.

Schools that were open for children of key workers were also closed in some areas.
