By Jack Sargeant, MS for Alyn and Deeside

As 2020 draws to close I would like to wish everyone in Alyn and Deeside and across Wales a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

The festive season will be different for us all this year, as we avoid large gatherings in order to protect our loved ones.

However, I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable Christmas whilst remembering to take all precautions possible to halt the spread of the virus.

2020 has been very difficult for us all and as we reflect on the events of the past year it's important to remember amazing achievements and kindness shown by so many.

We have seen incredible responses to the pandemic, in manufacturing Airbus workers at AMRC Cymru assembled thousands of life-saving ventilators for the NHS, at its height producing sixth months' normal production in a single day.

Recent impressive developments in science have meant 6,000 people across Wales received the Covid-19 vaccine in its first week.

Key workers across Wales have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic; NHS staff on the frontline, retail workers, delivery drivers, teachers and so many more have dedicated themselves to keeping the country running under the most challenging of circumstances.

I am also incredibly grateful to the residents of Alyn and Deeside for the kindness and compassion you have shown towards each other, from picking up groceries for neighbours to organising support for the vulnerable through groups such as Nanny Biscuit and Deeside Round Table, so many of you have gone above and beyond throughout the year.

Thank you so much for all you have done, I could not be more proud to represent this incredible community.

My office will be closed from December 23 until January 4. However, as always, if there is anything I can do to support you, please do not hesitate to get in touch at Jack.Sargeant@Senedd.Wales and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
