A WREXHAM woman is urging pet owners to be extra vigilant after her and other cats were shot in the head by an air gun.

Andrea Gibson, from Rhos, says her cat Tippy is "very lucky" to have survived after finding the pellet in his head on Wednesday night.

Unsure of what it was, Andrea rushed Tippy to Dee Valley vets in Llangollen where the pellet was removed.

She explained: "The vet said usually an injury like this would usually have killed the cat, however it didn't break through his skull so he is very lucky. I think that is one of his nine lives used up.

"It's very concerning that someone is walking around the village with a pellet gun as they are obviously not responsible to use such an item in my personal opinion.

"Where will they draw the line? Who or what is the next target?"

Andrea says Tippy barely leaves the area around her property and so it must have happened virtually on her doorstep on Hall Street.

She has reported the matter to North Wales Police which is investigating.

And in a separate incident, a cat belonging to Stacey Taylor, who lives on Poplar Avenue in Rhos, was also shot in the head by a pellet gun on Thursday night.

He too has had a lucky escape and has only suffered minor injuries.

The Leader: Stacey Taylor's cat was also shot in the head by a pellet gun. Stacey Taylor's cat was also shot in the head by a pellet gun.

Stacey said: "Until now I have never had an issue with my cats being outside but this has definitely frightened me about letting them out.

"I just hope they catch whoever is doing this - it’s cruel."

People have reacted to the incidents on social media, labelling them as "disgusting", "sick" and "vile".

And worryingly this has happened before in the locality, with Ponciau residents saying it's happened to their cats - one of which died as a result.

Thankfully, Tippy is now back home following his treatment.
