There seems to be no end of criticism directed at the BBC.

To set the record straight, if all you want from TV and radio is music, comedy, films and mindless reality shows, then by all means rebel over paying a licence fee.

But if like me, you prefer your news to be presented as fact, in an unbiased way, impartial, free from commercial interests, then I for one am quite happy to pay for it.

The BBC is world renowned, respected by people everywhere.

With a plethora of 'authoritarian' states around, the news stations being told what to say, we here in the UK are very lucky to have a media outlet that can report events with integrity.

Even in the USA, their news stations are not trusted, as one commentator who came on a BBC programme put it "people here in the US will trust what I say, whereas if on one of our own networks, they will doubt it".

The younger generations are turning away from the BBC. They are growing up in a different world from when I was growing up.

They have all the information they need on their phones.

The downside to that is they have to contend with a lot of misinformation, disinformation and conspiracy theories.

As with high street shops disappearing due to easy online shopping, the tide will eventually turn, people will realise that technology has taken them down the wrong road.

Long live the BBC. Dennis Saunders, Mold
