THE amazing doctors and nurses of the Maelor Hospital children's ward will be back on television screens tonight.

Staff will be featured once again in the BBC series watching how they treat thousands of critically ill children every year.

The North Wales hospital sees upwards of 5,000 children through its doors yearly – and TV cameras were able to get a fly-on-the-wall outlook during some emotional stories of the young patients and the devoted staff who treat them.

In the third episode of the new series, 10-month-old Georgia is rushed to the emergency department when her dad suspects she has swallowed button batteries used to power toys.

The consequences could be life-threatening, so an X-Ray is needed fast to get the answer needed and treatment in place.

The medical team must also work out what’s wrong with nine-month-old baby Cass.

Investigations into a potential blockage in his tummy suggest his condition is so serious, he may become one of the two children a month blue lit to Alder Hay Children’s Hospital in Liverpool from Wrexham Maelor to get the help they need.

Finally, seven-year-old Jacob has leukaemia, and when his temperature plummets he comes in with his Mum.

But his sparky personality has the nurses smiling and joining in a dancing contest.

The next episode will be broadcast tonight, December 1, on BBC One Wales at 8.30pm. The first and second episodes are still available to watch on the BBC iPlayer.
