A CLOSE-KNIT community in Wrexham has been creating blankets for care home residents in the area.
At the beginning of this year, Gwersyllt Library group goers, and residents were producing knitted squares that were then sewn together to make colourful blankets, with a number of them being produced before the first Covid-19 lockdown.
Although the project is currently on hold, many people have carried on knitting.
The squares have continued to arrive at Gwersyllt Library with residents dropping off the knitted squares whilst picking up or exchanging books using the click and collect service.
Gwersyllt librarians, Lyn Edwards and Sue Melacrinis, said they have been left feeling 'overwhelmed' by the community generosity and spirit.
This week, Sarah Evans, the manager of Hollybank Care Home, gratefully received a delivery of the knitted blankets on behalf of the care home residents, and was delighted with the donation.
Groups involved in the project are the Gwersyllt Library Knit and Natter Group, the Adult Book Club, the Gwersyllt Resource Luncheon Club and over 60’s group.
Cllr John Pritchard, lead member of youth services and anti-poverty, said: "Thank you to everyone that gave their time and got involved."
