A FUNDRAISING page in memory of a young Connah's Quay man has reached its target of £2,000 in less that two days.

The JustGiving Page was set up to support the family of 21-year-old Darren Thorley, also known as Daz or Nerrad.

It was set up by his friend Ethan Hughes to pay for funeral costs.

Ethan said Darren was "one of the funniest, craziest, caring and down to earth lad we all know, and I'm sure everyone who knew Darren can agree. Always brought a smile to everyone's face without a doubt, whether he was trying to or simply just being Nerrad or Daz as some would call him."

He added that Darren was the "heart and soul of the party. Brought life to every place he went to and was loved by all who knew him."

The page raised more than £1,000 in the first 24 hours and reached its target of £2,000 today.

Friends and family have also been leaving messages of support to Darren's mum Yvonne and family.

Chris Preece said: "RIP Darren we are going to miss your big smiles."

Marian Jones said: "Our heartfelt thoughts to all Darren’s friends and family. Rest in Peace Darren."

Nicholl Moss posted: "RIP Darren. Sending love and big hugs to all your friends and family. The JSHS family are thinking of you all."

Andy Byrne said: "So sad to hear you have departed this world so early. Thinking of your family and remembering the sound of you coming home on your scooter down the alley between the houses."

Darren was reported missing on Friday and a major search involving the police and coastguards was launched.

The search was concluded on Sunday when a body was found near the River Dee on Sunday.
