SCHOOLS in Flintshire have been introducing new ways to ensure the safety of their pupils and families when dropping off and picking up from school.
One example of this is Ysgol y Llan in Whitford where they ask parents and carers to remain in their cars when dropping off and/or collecting.
This way, physical and social distancing is maintained and there is no mixing of households. The scheme has staggered times and, thanks to the fantastic support of parents and staff, it has been an overwhelming success.
Head teacher Bryan Griffiths said: "I’ve got to say that I wasn’t expecting it to go so well in September with a full return to school. The parents and carers have been so complimentary and even our neighbours have expressed how safe the roads now are without the parking issues many schools can experience."
"Although we feel that this system has dramatically reduced the safety issues on the road, we still require passers by to be patient during these specific times of the day and we thank you all in advance for your co-operation to make our community a safer place."
