Mold Crown Court and HMP Berwyn
A MAN is to be sentenced after admitting he kidnapped a person while he was a serving prisoner at HMP Berwyn.
Matthew Jones, 28, appeared before Mold Crown Court on Friday via video link from Manchester Prison.
He faced three counts; that whilst in lawful custody at HMP Berwyn in Wrexham he attempted to escape, kidnapped Samantha Sharples and had in his possession an offensive weapon or item adapted to have a sharp point.
Jones admitted all three offences, which took place on October 4 last year.
He will next appear before Mold Court for sentencing on December 21.
