RYAN REYNOLDS and Rob McElhenny have vowed to wake the sleeping giant and believe the sky's the limit if they become the new owners of Wrexham Football Club.

The Hollywood film stars, who will invest £2m if the takeover is approved, shared their vision for the club with Wrexham Supporters Trust members at a virtual meeting on Sunday.

The club has been in fan ownership since 2011 and although Reynolds and McElhenny accept some supporters may be dubious about their intentions, the duo insist they will be determined to turn the club into a success story should they take control at The Racecourse.

Reynolds said: "This is all pretty wild. I am sure it is a little bit disconcerting than a Canadian and an American are so interested in your club.

"You guys have been around for 156 years and I think we would be concerned if you weren't at least a little nervous.

"Rob and I are two people who make a living out of never taking ourselves too seriously but we want to assure the supporters that we are taking this venture very seriously."

When asked why they were interested in becoming owners of Wrexham, Reynolds added: "In simplest terms, we believe that your club is a sleeping giant.

"You have a wonderful and incredible history and stadium, and have already got thousands of supporters.

"The only thing that might be missing here is the resources to take it to where it has always belonged.

"It has always belonged in league football and we have those resources.

"We have the ability to grow the exposure in a way that Wrexham has never had before and with a club that has this much potential, I really think the sky is the limit."
