A CHIRK café has teamed up with a local artist to design ornamental sheep outside the front of its building.

Caffi Wylfa, based at Glyn Wylfa in Castle Road, is displaying the sheep, designed by Chirk-based artist Jim Heath.

His design on the new sheep features local landmarks and buildings which tend to be popular among visitors.

He hopes when visitors return to Chirk after the pandemic, they may wish to visit some of the places featured in his sheep designs after visiting the café

“I just thought it was appropriate because the buildings and attractions on there are all local,” he said.

“Most of the designs are from paintings that I have already done.

“The other sheep was a little bit damaged, so that’s currently in my workshop, so that will be repaired and returned to the café too.

“Hopefully beyond the pandemic situation and lockdown, when visitors are allowed back to Glyn Wylfa from elsewhere, hopefully they might see the places and stop there during their visit as well.

“I display my artwork at Caffi Wylfa sometimes too, it’s usually once a year.”

A spokesman for Caffi Wylfa said: “A big thank you to local artist Jim Heath for decorating the new Caffi Wylfa sheep.”
