WREXHAM residents are reminded that recycling centres will soon be closing temporarily.

As part of the two-week firebreak lockdown, Wrexham Council want to remind residents that their three recycling centres will be closing.

Centres including Bryn Lane, Plas Madoc and Brymbo will all close at 4pm on Friday, 23 October.

In a joint statement, Cllr David A Bithell, deputy leader of Wrexham Council and lead member for environment and transport, and Darren Williams, chief officer for environment and technical, said: "Following the Welsh Government announcement, we will be closing our three recycling centres in Wrexham for the duration of the fire break lockdown in Wales.

"We ask for people to be responsible with their waste through this period, and hold on to any extra waste and large items until our facilities reopen on Monday, 9 November.

"Please don’t be tempted to fly-tip, don’t leave waste at the gate or on the side of the road, or anywhere else where it shouldn’t be left.

"Let’s all work together and be responsible."

All of the sites will reopen on Monday, 9 November, with their usual opening hours:

  • Bryn Lane 8am – 8pm
  • Plas Madoc 9am – 4pm
  • Brymbo 9am – 4pm (appointments only)

As residents will need to make an appointment to visit the Brymbo facility, they will be able to call them from Monday, 2 November on 01978 660796.

A spokesperson for the council, added: "Please don’t try to call them between October 24 and November 1, as phone lines will be closed.

"The re-use shop at Bryn Lane recycling centre will also be closed for the duration of the fire break lockdown, so please hold on to any donations until it reopens."

While the sites remain closed, the council is urging residents to try to minimise their waste, to put any gardening waste in their green bin as normal and to keep any other items they would normally take to their local recycling centre, such as old furniture, timber and electrical goods at home for now.
