BESPOKE benches and planters have been designed and built by playworkers at a Wrexham adventure playground.

The team at The Land have been using reclaimed wood and their time during COVID-19 to to create the assets for outdoor spaces across Plas Madoc Estate.

Although closed since March, The Land Adventure Playground is being used by playworkers to develop new ways to enhance the health and well-being of local families by enhancing opportunities at home.

Many residents in the local area are fortunate to have an outdoor space.

A spokesman for the project said: "Recognising the importance of staying home and staying safe playworkers have received reclaimed wood from local businesses and crafted bespoke benches and planters for residents who need them to enjoy their outside areas.

"All the items are unique and made with the recipient in mind.

"The benches have allowed further access to outdoor spaces for children and their families to be in the fresh air and create space to relax.

"Alongside planters which have encouraged residents to take-up gardening and built-upon the work of The Land’s Garden Gang.

"Playworkers continue to see the importance of interacting with the nature and the positive impact this has on health and well-being from their experience on The Land, children have a natural love for the living world.

"The children love to engage with the elements – they dig, they love to garden and eat the herbs or strawberries they’ve grown.

"Whilst we can’t meet in person, these initiatives continue to empower the community at this difficult time."
