Book Review

Six Tudor Queens: Katheryn Howard, The Tainted Queen by Alison Weir

The Leader:

From the author of the Sunday Times bestselling series Six Tudor Queens, Alison Weir, this is the the tragic story of Henry VIII's fifth queen, Kathryn Howard.

Katheryn, a young, innocent, but gullible 19-year-old woman, desperately seeks affection. Exploited by her ambitious family, Katheryn, a talented dancer with a beautiful voice, is sent to the King's Court where she quickly captures the attention and the heart of the monarch.

This is a story of love, betrayal, treachery and blackmail, where strong, powerful men misuse this naive, sparkling girl for their own ambitions and political ends. This is a well-researched, historically accurate novel, which relates a terrible moment in English history. The Tainted Queen is an enthralling and riveting novel that brings the tragic short life of Henry VIII's fifth queen vividly to life. A fascinating insight into the life of the King's court, and the machinations, trials and tribulations of Tudor England.
