A HIGH school in Wrexham will be closed on Monday due to a second positive coronavirus case.

Rhosnesni High School will be closed to all its students on Monday (October 5) following a second confirmed case of Covid-19 at the school.

The Leader reported on Thursday that a staff member at the school had tested positive for the virus, and following a second positive test which was confirmed on Sunday the school will close as an "entirely precautionary measure".

A statement addressed to parents from the school's headteacher, Andrew Brant, released on Sunday afternoon said: "Although Public Health Wales and Wrexham’s Public Protection department do not believe that these two cases are related, the school will be closed for deep cleaning.

"Further updates will be provided throughout Monday.

"Apologies for the inconvenience."
