WE asked Leader readers to get in touch and share their thoughts on children returning to school.

As many children in Wrexham and Flintshire head back to school, many parents have been left feeling a mixture of emotions due to Covid-19.

Here is what parents had to say...

One parent, Laura Rowlands, said: "I cannot wait for them to get back to normality with their friends.

"It's been a long five and a half months."

Another mother, Janine Hibbert, also welcomed the transition, by adding: "My kids are more than ready.

"We can't eliminate the risk but we can minimise and I think the schools are doing everything they can."

However, some parents were left with mixed feelings on the matter, with parent, Donna Hughes, stating that she felt a 'mixture of anxiety and excitement' with Karen Matthews adding that she was 'really anxious.'

Katie Jane stated: "Mixed feelings, I'm glad to get some routine back, and for the children to see their friends, but my six year old daughter has been shielding due to a heart condition, so there is some anxiety too."

Gemma Parry echoed: "I’m happy about sending my children back to school.

"Our school have kept us constantly informed on what the new school day will look like and all the procedures etc they have put in place.

"I'm confident that they will be keeping my children safe at all times.

"They also can’t wait to get back to school."

However, Jane Rachel, stated that she was 'more anxious' about her daughters catching up with all the GCSE work that they had missed out on.
