A DRIVER has admitted to clocking ‘eyewatering’ speeds when stopped by police in Wrexham.
A spokesman for the North Wales Road Policing Unit posted about the incident on their social media pages.
Officers have said high speeds on the roads in North Wales won’t be tolerated ‘at any time’ after stopping a driver that registered as travelling at staggering speeds.
The statement reads: “The driver of this 7 series BMW was caught travelling at an eyewatering speed of 140mph on the A483 this morning. He admitted to having reached speeds of 160mph before having been stopped by officers.
“Speeds like this are not tolerated at any time. An RTC would cause unnecessary strain on the NHS and emergency services which is totally avoidable.”
The officer who wrote the social media post goes on to say that other drivers were recorded with speeds of 93mph – also on the A483 – and 96mph on the A55.
