POLICE have sent a driver home after he travelled more than 220 miles to the North Wales seafront.

Officers saw the blue camper van parked in the seaside town of Tywyn in Gwynedd.

The driver, who told officers he had driven from Middlesex, was reported for breaking coronavirus rules and told to return home.

Police tweeted: "This vehicle had travelled down from Middlesex today to visit Tywyn. The driver has been reported and told to return home.

"Restrictions in Wales remain.

"We look forward to welcoming visitors back when safe to do so."

North Wales Police and the Welsh Government have been reminding people that travel restrictions remain in place in Wales with only essential travel permitted.

This week, after lockdown measures were eased in England, Welsh health minister Vaughan Gething said police in Wales will be enforcing the laws of Wales in regard to non-essential travel.
