FURTHER 'disgusting' fly-tipping has been discovered in Flintshire.

The discovery was made in a wooded area of Buckley and has seen several bags of rubbish and other items dumped.

Residents described it as "disgusting", "heart breaking" and "an absolute disgrace".

Despite acknowledging that fly-tipping has increased amid lockdown measures, Flintshire Council remains steadfast in its stance over the reopening of household waste and recycling centres.

And the authority says recent reports are seeing "larger scale fly tips" of which the council’s environmental crime team are conducting investigations into.

It also warned residents using waste disposal companies which have been advertising on social media.

It comes amid news recycling tips across England, including those managed by Cheshire West and Chester, Cheshire East and Shropshire councils, are reopening.

Asked by the Leader if Flintshire Council plans to follow suit, it said: "Flintshire County Council has seen an increase in reported fly tip events since the commencement of lockdown measures.

"The majority of these incidents are small in scale, with single black bags and household side waste being the most reported waste type.

"However, more recent reports are seeing larger scale fly tips of which the Council’s environmental crime team are conducting investigations.

"Flintshire residents have been advised to minimise the waste they produce during this time and warned against using unregistered waste disposal companies which have been advertising on social media platforms."
