MIKE WARBURTON'S darts dream will come true tonight.

While things might not be going how he planned it in the Modus Icon of Darts online tournament, tonight's surprise will more than make up for it.

"I got a call to say that Phil Taylor is going to playing each of the group members tonight," said the 35-year-old Welsh international from Gwersyllt near Wrexham.

"I can't believe it. He's my hero, the world's best ever player and I'm playing darts against him in my living room.

"It's a dream come true to play your hero, someone who is 16-time World champion. I can't believe it.

"It’s an honour to play Phil. But more importantly I want to put some more points on the board.

"Things haven’t gone well so far to put it lightly but never give up."

Warburton heads into tonight's penultimate round on an eight-game losing streak and bottom of the table.

But the father of four admits he's enjoyed the whole experience and wants to finish on a high in tonight's and tomorrow's final round.

“It’s been a different environment, playing in the silence of your own house but if I can relax and play to the best of my ability I hope I can head up that table," added Warburton, who will be in action from 6pm tonight.

“I’m not going to win it but at least I can finish with a good run.”
