NORTH Wales Police has joined forces with a large supermarket chain to support victims of domestic abuse.

The force has been building good working relationships with many organisations to support victims of domestic abuse , especially during the challenges posed by the Covid 19 outbreak and the subsequent lockdown.

They have now teamed up with the supermarket chain Tesco, which has kindly agreed to help distribute leaflets which encourage people to report domestic abuse and which list organisations and agencies that offer support and advice.

Strategic Domestic Abuse Officer, PC Mike Taggart said: “ A serious concern at the moment is isolation and the effects of controlling and coercive behaviour as victims spend a much longer time in the company of their abuser during the lockdown.

“We need to get the message out that North Wales Police will deal with offenders robustly and that people should not suffer in silence. There is support out there.

“We are grateful to Tecso which has agreed to make these safeguarding tip leaflets available through click and collect and home deliveries from stores in Llandudno Junction, Holyhead, Bangor, Prestatyn and Wrexham.”

Andy Smith of Tesco added: “Tesco stores across North Wales are pleased you be able to support North Wales police by distributing these important leaflets, using our Home Shopping delivery service, while people stay home.”
