WREXHAM Council has urged residents to download the new coronavirus tracking app.

They have stated that residents can do their part in helping the NHS to build a better understanding of the virus with just one minute of their time each day.

A spokesperson for Wrexham Council, said: "All you need to do is download the new COVID Symptom Tracker app and use it each day to report your health.

"Using the app to log your daily symptoms will help build a clearer picture of how the virus is affecting people.

"The app is for everyone, not just those who are experiencing symptoms."

The app has been developed by researchers at King’s College London and healthcare science company, ZOE, and is already being used by more than 38,000 people in Wales, and over 2 million across the UK.

People are using the app to track their daily health and any potential Covid-19 symptoms.

It is also being used by healthcare and hospital workers.

Data from the app will then be shared daily with the Welsh Government and NHS Wales, and it will give early indications of where future hospital admissions are going to be.

Cllr Mark Pritchard, leader of Wrexham Council, added: "I would urge everyone who is able to download this app to do so.

"It is free and using it will mean that NHS Wales will have a clearer picture of how fast the virus is spreading and where the hotspots are."

Ian Bancroft, chief executive of Wrexham Council, said: "Building a picture of how the virus is developing in the local area is important for our service delivery and those who are delivering that service.

"If you want to help during this difficult time, this is one way that you can."

The app is available to download from the Apple App Store and Google Play from the links at covid.joinzoe.com.
