A WREXHAM photographer is helping families create memories to look back on during their time in lockdown with doorstep photoshoots.

Sally Cattermole, who lives in Gresford, spotted a few photographers taking doorstep pictures of their neighbours and thought it would be an amazing thing to share with her community.

She has been working as a photographer with her own business, Sally Joanne Photography, since 2017 and told the Leader that she has been missing doing what she loves since social distancing requirements made her job almost impossible.

She said: "I usually do weddings so work is pretty much not around at the minute due to this virus. I saw that a few photographers were doing these doorstep photos and I thought it would be a nice thing for people to keep and remember their time on lockdown because, once this is all over, it's going to be something for the history books so people are going to want to remember what they were doing during the coronavirus pandemic in years to come.

"I stick mainly to the Marford and Gresford area as that is doable when on my daily walk so I'm not going out of the way too much. I have had requests to go further so it's definitely something to consider if the restrictions are eased."

Once Sally first shared some of her newest work on social media, she said messages poured in requesting shoots.

She said: "People were insisting they pay me something for my time but I wasn't doing it for money. I said to someone that I would rather they give that money to the NHS as they are ones who need everything they get to get us out of the pandemic sooner."

She added that the request just spread from there and people were asking the best way to donate - which led to her setting up a fundraising page for easy access.

The fundraising page has raised a total of £245 in two days, at the time of writing.
