A TOWN tradition has had to be cancelled as a result of coronavirus.
Buckley was due to celebrate its 164th annual Jubilee event this summer, however the ongoing pandemic has resulted in the event being cancelled.
Hazel Ashton, a spokesman for the event, said: “The Buckley Jubilee Committee have reached the sad decision that unfortunately this year’s event due to take place on July 14 is cancelled.
“Due to the current situation, we could not all meet together to plan the event and we cannot predict what the situation will be on social distancing in July.
“Also Flintshire County Council have said they cannot guarantee the erecting of flag bunting and Collins Fair have said they cannot attend.”
Ms Ashton added that the committee hopes by July the current lockdown situation may be eased.
She added: “We are hopeful we can get together in some way to mark this historic Christian Jubilee festival. Any ideas would be welcomed nearer the date.
“Thank you all, stay safe and well from Buckley Jubilee Committee.”
