STARTING a journey into motherhood is difficult enough, but during a pandemic must be harder.

We gave new mums who gave birth during lockdown the chance to share their baby with the world whilst we are told to remain at home because of COVID-19

Chelsie said: "I was absolutely petrified to give birth during this pandemic but the midwives in Glan Clwyd were amazing at reassuring me. They all deserve medals for working through this tough time, I can honestly say it was single handedly the most emotional time in my life."

Becky said: "When the time came for move to Lawson Tait and to wave goodbye to my Husband, I was full of anxiety. But the midwives were extraordinary. Unfortunately, due to complications I spent a few nights in hospital but the support I received from the all the staff was amazing. Cannot thank them all enough."

Paige said: "Born via emergency c-section after a week long of induction and 12 hours of slow labour. Midwife’s at Wrexham Maelor were amazing - couldn’t fault them made me feel like I wasn’t alone for the whole week I was there until my partner was allowed to come as soon as I went into the labour room. I was so nervous but at the end the experience was just as good due to the fact the Midwife’s were all so lovely, thank you NHS."

Alannah said: "The staff at Wrexham were fabulous with me they made me feel at ease because I was only told the day before that I was going to be having a c section witch was a bit of a shocker. My husband was only allowed in the theatre with me and to stay for an hour after the birth, the midwives were fab they were very caring and very understanding."

Amy said: "It was hard having to go through it all by myself as my partner was home with the kids, but the midwives were amazing and made me feel very comfortable. Was lonely on the ward after with not being able to have partner there or any visitors, especially being there for an extra night."

Lydia said: "Apart from the masks, gowns gloves it was no different from when I had my other two babies previously also would like to say that mine and my babies care was put as a top priority at all times regardless of the virus.

"It's been very hard not being able to take my new baby to visit both sets of grandparents and my nan whom are itching to give him cuddles but better times are to come."

Beth said: "Once I was in active labour my husband could join me and was able to support me and cut the cord. The staff all went out their way to support me.

"Although everything changed in the past few weeks, appointments all cancelled, parent classes stopped, attending scans alone, staff wearing masks etc, I felt very safe and well looked after. A big thank you to the Countess maternity team."

Danielle said: "I had been in isolation for 3 weeks before he was born and my daughter had been at her dads for two weeks to keep me safe.

"My labour partner was allowed to stay with me in the labour room for about 3/4 hours until I went to the Post-Natal ward. Was very strange not having any visitors but the midwives were so lovely and amazing at making me feel comfortable. Very strange giving birth in a pandemic but one to tell the grandchildren."
