EMERGENCY services were called to assist two people stuck in mud 'up to their chests' on Wednesday evening.

Flint Coastguard Rescue Team was called to assist the incident on April 22 shortly after 8.30pm.

A spokesman said: "Team tasked by UK Coastguard along with Rhyl Coastguard Rescue Team to reports of two persons stuck in mud up to their chests behind Flint Castle.

"As the Team were departing Station a stand down message was received, confirming both persons were out of the mud and not requiring medical attention."

North Wales Police officers were also on scene.

The incident marks the 27th call this year for the rescue team.
